For those of you participating in our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, this is day 3!  My wife shared the following in our devotions this morning with our GCC staff.  It relates how you can elevate your personal relationship with Christ.

Elevate your Commitment.  In Gen. 28:10-22 Jacob makes a commitment to God that he will always give God a tenth of everything.  Jacob knew that his possessions, his family, his very life were all blessings from God.  Therefore he understood the importance and priority of giving the tenth back to God.  There are many commitments we can make to God, but giving a tenth, tithing, is one that will always generate blessing.

Elevate Prayer before Ministry.  In Luke 11:1-13 Jesus illustrates the importance of prayer as the key to everything.  Obviously, Jesus modeled prayer in his life as the key to his effectiveness in ministry.  The disciples realized this and thus asked Jesus to teach them how to pray.  It is wise for us to put prayer as the first thing, and to the last thing, we do.

Elevate through Jesus’ Example.  Along with the above, the best way for you to elevate to a new level in your personal relationship with Christ, is to simply be and example of Jesus in every area of your life.  Particularly note those areas where you need to improve.  Look at Jesus’ life as revealed in the Gospels, apply the principles being revealed, and live accordingly.
