Day 1 of 21 Days

Welcome to Day 1 of our 21 Days of Prayer and fasting. You are either starting today or yesterday, but regardless, the great thing is that you ate setting some time aside to focus your life through prayer. Our theme for this year is Elevate and over the next 21 days I know God will be faithful to show you how you can live a more productive and fulfilling life in 2012.

Take time to read Col. 3:1-2, which says, “So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along eyes to the ground absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ- that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.”

As you start these 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, focus this week on elevating your life for Christ to a new level. What is God asking you to ramp up in the area of personal discipleship? How could you better represent Christ in your immediate relationships- family, life group, church? In what ways can you better share Jesus with those around you every day?

Again, from Col. 3:1-2, as you pray think about and journal how you can be “more serious” about living for and “acting” like Christ. What goals can you begin to pursue that Christ would bless? Begin to note and write those down. Use the questions from the weekend teaching to guide you. What are things that can take your eyes off of Christ, and cause you to stumble? Ask God to help you overcome them. And pray to see things from “Jesus’ perspective.”

Finally, pray about and begin to write down the names God wants you to invite to our Friend Day weekend on Jan. 28/29.
