This weekend we are relaunching Life Groups here at Grace Community Church. I’m excited about this because I strongly believe that we all need a tribe or a group of people to belong to that will positively influence our lives. So, my question is: Do you have a tribe?

Yes! You do! Whether you realize it or not, you belong to a tribe already. There is a small group of people that you are connected to intentionally or unintentionally that are very much so influencing your life. You are developing behavioral habits and thought processes based on the influence of this tribe or group of people. You either picked them or they picked you, but the selection happened because there was a mutual connection point- this can be good or bad, depending on what the connection is.

A tribe is a social unit or community of like minded people. A tribe is created either by people gathering around an idea or leader, or a leader or idea gathering people- regardless people get connected. But a tribe is a choice- you get to select the tribe you will be in! With that in mind, it is very important for you to belong to a tribe that has the right idea and the right leadership. You need a tribe or small group of people that will enhance your life not diminish it, that will speak the truth in love, that will not merely pat you on the back, but point you in the right direction.

If you are a follower of Jesus, you need a tribe that helps you to actually follow Jesus.
